There have been several comments, here and elsewhere, to the effect that the US Army’s parade on Saturday was really not all that great — two specifically cited poor marching.  For a contrast go look at video of the Trooping of the Colour which also happened on Saturday in London — which was, as always, very well done indeed.  I am left with a bad case of CPE (Ceremonial Penis Envy), the US Army really does not do ceremony very well while the British Army does it superbly.  I am reminded of the old one-liner to the effect that the British Army has perfected two military operations:  staging a funeral and attempting the impossible.
