Marching in the Parade

6/16/25

Many people have talked about the very poor marching (people out of step, slouching, shuffling, not dressing the ranks) in Trump’s parade on Saturday.  It certainly was sloppy in spots, even downright bad at times.

There has been speculation that this was a type of protest by the soldiers involved — that they were showing disapproval of Trump.  Liberals would certainly like to think so, but we are probably fooling ourselves.

As others have suggested, the problem was more likely to be over-amped rock blaring out of loudspeakers that had no discernible marching cadence along with intrusive narration.  W might consider the competence of people organizing a military parade without military marches playing or at least a drum beating out the time, but that does not amount to a protest against Trump.

Something that Democrats and Liberals need to understand and grapple with is that, for the most part, the military and law enforcement are packed with people who SUPPORT Trump.  They are part of his base.  Those who join the military and law enforcement are disproportionately political, social, and cultural conservatives.  This should not come as news.

Something to think about when musing about civil war and who will be fighting for whom.
