Today’s Unpleasant Political Question:

The “No Kings” protests today apparently had a huge turnout and stayed overwhelmingly peaceful. Is that enough?

Malcolm X once said that: “”I want Dr. King to know that I didn’t come to Selma to make his job difficult. I really did come thinking I could make it easier. If the white people realize what the alternative is, perhaps they will be more willing to hear Dr. King.” Malcolm X was saying (thought he might have hated me putting it this way), that, in effect, he was the “Bad Cop” to Martin Luther KIng’s “Good Cop;” or, to put it more bluntly, white America could deal with the protesters who practiced non-violence or deal with the people who were prepared to burn things down.

The question is, will peaceful protest be enough to change the course of Donald Trump and MAGAland, in the absence of a more, to put it bluntly, violent alternative that makes dealing with the peaceful protestors the better alternative/

I don’t like thinking this, but that doesn’t make it untrue.
