I recently came across a previously unknown atrocity committed by the French in World War I. While reading a description of the Vivien-Bessiere Rifle Grenade, it stated that the French Army suggested targeting enemy communication trenches and lavatories “if they could be located.” This strikes me as a true atrocity and ought to be considered a violation of the laws of war. The only thing worse then having a grenade land next to you has to be having a grenade land next to you will trying to peacefully take a dump. Merde!
